How Does Your Garden Grow?

Mary Mary quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row.

I started my square foot garden finally.. here is what my chosen spot looked like when I began preparing the soil. Hard as a rock, dry, just not happy soil it was....

Until I added my Magic Ingredient, Liquid Compost! Yep, it's a green smoothie for soil made of water and all the odds and ends of fruits and veg past their prime. I throw the mess into the Vita Mix and Viola! instant compost that my soil Loves!
Green Compost Smoothie!

After doing that and turning the soil every few days for about two weeks, it was time to add the border of old bricks we have all over the place here.

I stacked them all around, then added two bags of Armstrong Organic compost to my existing soil.

Does this look like a plant's dream or what??

Our first resident is Mr. Japanese Tomato, but he got a bit lonely out there....
Handsome Mr. Japanese Tomato
So Farmer Sam and I started a baby nursery, baby plants that is.. I will let Sam tell you all about it in this quick video:

Here is our nursery before planting:
Aren't they precious?

We're Waiting!!!!
And now we wait, just a little impatient, like Toad in "The Garden".. we just want them to grow now!!!!
GROW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

'Toad put in alot of effort to make his seeds grow he tried forcing them to grow by shouting at them. This did not work, Frog told him he was making to much noise to just leave them get some rain and sun and they would grow.' from Arnold Lobel's Frog and Toad Together

What are your gardening plans for the summer?
 do tell us...

Happiness and Whirled Peas to all,

The Mustard Seed: What is Yours For?

...'The concept of sacredness is that fearlessness is carried into everyday life situations, even brushing your teeth. So fearlessness occurs all over the place, all the time.

Fearlessness here is also unconditional. In this way, fearlessness becomes cheerful and very light. There's no need for cowardice or fear at all, or any moments of doubt...

Victory is not having to deal with an enemy at all. It is the notion of no enemy. The whole world is a friend.'
--Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche( from the Upaya Newsletter)

My Mom used to Sing this to me.. now I sing it to Sam...

The Tale of The Mustard Seed

Sam's Art Work

Gautama Buddha  told the story of the grieving mother and the mustard seed. When a mother loses her only son, she takes his body to the Buddha to find a cure. The Buddha asks her to bring a handful of mustard seeds from a family that has never lost a child, husband, parent or friend. When the mother is unable to find such a house in her village, she realizes that death is common to all, and she cannot be selfish in her grief.

We are the other person.. I know that my grief is no different than yours.  I too have lost loved ones, suffered pain and had times of great struggle.

Lighten your load, leave me a comment and share your "mustard seed" story.. and remember, we are all in this together..

You Missed the Party..

By now most of you know that my test was a bit higher than I wanted it to be. I rolled the CLL dice and I got 19K for a white blood cell count. Six months ago it was 15K. Normal is 10K or less.
So it's a number.
Not a great number, but not tragic either.

The pity party that I held in my honor, for me, starring me to which I was the only invited guest, was short and pretty boring.
So it's over. Be glad you were not invited.

This scary picture is from around 5 years ago, let's call it "Before":

Notice Anything Missing??? Me running, feeling Fab!

Today is a new day. I have some more tricks up my little organic hemp sleeves. Time to roll said sleeves up and get going with some magic mojo and truck loads of loving friends,  yes, that means YOU! Many deep bows of gratitude for all the love you sent me, I felt them all, each thought prayer or wish.
You are all crucial to me, know it. It's true.

It's a New Day and I'm feeling Lucky
How about you?
