Everyday Raw: Triple C and Tenderness=Love

The Triple C: Full Of Love

"Tenderness is greater proof of love than the most passionate of vows."
-Marlene Dietrich, 1962

Orange Juice circa 1982 One of My Favs Then.. and Now..take a Listen:

A Moment for Peace:

Speaking for Peace(from Intentblog.com)
Today, the purpose of speaking is to create happiness in the listener. Have this intention: Today every word I utter will be chosen consciously. I will refrain from complaints, condemnation, and criticism.
Your practice is to do at least one of the following:
Tell someone how much you appreciate them.
Express genuine gratitude to those who have helped and loved you.
Offer healing or nurturing words to someone who needs them.
Show respect to someone whose respect you value.
If you find that you are reacting negatively to anyone, in a way that isn't peaceful, refrain from speaking and keep silent. Wait to speak until you feel centered and calm, and then speak with respect.

On To the DDR Test Kitchen!

Ok, so you have the Orange Juice cranked up, you are gathering the ingredients, ready to go make the Triple C!

Oranges, Goji's and Coconuts, Ready to Blend
This drink is a bit work intensive, as you need to peel and juice the oranges,
Goji's Soaked: Check!
soak the gojis (well, I did, to make them blend better), crack a coconut and get the strips of flesh out.. and get your seven year old to do a video and get ready for school and
ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH... I did not put the video of us making this for one reason. I was impaitent with Sam's narration today and it showed.. ouch.. it is hard for me to see the truth, on camera no less. The truth is that at some points in the day, I get short with her and push her to move faster, do it right for goodness sakes!

And that makes me sad...she is only seven and she is so excited to be helping out with raw foods.  If she even sees someone with a green juice she launches into her "raw foods info talk", telling them all about what we make, what Mom eats, how to make green smoothies.. oh it just is too funny sometimes.  I try hard to keep her informed, to make sure she knows how to keep healthy and how to make good food.

But I am not perfect.  There, I said it, in public.

I get impatient, I get angry, I yell.  I am a Mom first, a wife, step-mom, a writer and hairdresser too.. but Mom is my number one job.  And sometimes, I suck at it..and that hurts.

Since I got my prognosis, since I found out that my blood/marrow has some renegade cells trying to kill me, I have been on a mission to make sure that Sam knows all she can know about life.
Sam: Bless her Artist Heart

Sort of trying to cram in all I can, to spend as much time with her having fun, doing art, learning, showing and just living each moment.  I think that is why I crack at times.. I am pushing myself too hard, trying so hard to tell her all I need to tell her, and damn it, I want her to get it all and get it right and that is just stupid of me, foolish, not very smart.

I realized today, making this smoothie, that I expect too much, I push too much, I get too impatient with her.

So, I will add some tenderness to the mix, take a moment to speak with peace, and in short, Rip It Up and Start Again. That is the beauty of the sun coming up each day, we get a chance to make a new path, forge a new life, start over.

my precious girl

I love you Sam, more than I can even say.. forgive me, let me start over and let you be a kid, the glorious, crazy kid that I love so madly and deeply..

Ok, Cleansing breath.. exhale..aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh..
We mixed it all up and blended and tasted and well, it was good... see what Malcolm the Wonder Dog had to say in this short clip:

Malcolm and The Tale of the Tail

I followed Matthew's advice, reduced the oranges from 6-8 to 4 and added 1 tblspoon of coconut oil.  It has a nice flavor and it is very filling due to the mango and coconut.. but maybe if you have the time it would be a good choice.  It was a bit too time consuming for the morning crazies at the DDR house of nuts and to be honest, a bit too pricey too.  Goji's are super good sources of antioxidants and vitamin C as are the Mango and the oranges so if you are getting a cold or feeling low.. it would be an excellent pick me up.
DDR Rating: (5 being the highest praise, 1 being the lowest)

Sam and I At the Wheel, Well, She is Really Steering...
So, go forth and be Tender, Speak of Peace and if you need to, (we all do at times)
Just Rip It Up and Start Again..no harm, no foul.. just a new day.
